Your Data, Your Choice

Delete Your Account & Data

Last updated: April 18, 2026

You Own Your Data

You can permanently delete your Zamily account at any time, from inside the app or by emailing us. This page walks you through both options and explains exactly what gets deleted and what we are legally required to retain.

Zamily is a product of Xelora PTY LTD, an Australian company. If you have any questions about account deletion that aren't answered below, contact us at support@zamily.app.

Option 1: Delete from inside the Zamily app (fastest)

  1. Open the Zamily app on your phone.
  2. Sign in if you aren't already.
  3. Tap the profile icon (top of the Family tab) to open your Profile.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap the red “Delete account” button in the Danger Zone.
  5. Read the warning, then type DELETE in the confirmation box.
  6. Tap “Delete forever”. Your account and all associated data are removed immediately.

Note: If you are the sole admin of a family with other members, the app will ask you to nominate another adult to take over as admin before deletion. This is a safety step so the family is never left without an admin.

Option 2: Request deletion by email

If you can't access the app (e.g. you forgot your password and no longer have access to the phone number or email on file), email us from the address associated with your Zamily account:

To: support@zamily.app
Subject: Account deletion request
Body: Please confirm you are requesting permanent deletion of your Zamily account and list the email address on your account.

We will verify the request and permanently delete the account within 30 days of receipt, in line with GDPR / Australian Privacy Act timelines. In most cases it happens within 48 hours.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:

Deletion is a cascade: once your account is gone, all data linked to your user record is gone with it. We do not keep shadow copies.

What we're required to retain (and for how long)

A small amount of data may be retained after deletion to satisfy legal, security, and accounting obligations:

Outside of the categories above, your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted. We cannot undo deletion — if you change your mind later, you will need to create a new account from scratch.

Before you delete — things to consider

Export your data first (optional)

Zamily supports GDPR data export from inside the app. If you want a copy of everything before deletion, tap Profile → Export my data to download a JSON archive of your account, location history, trips, places and family memberships.

Family members lose your shared location

After deletion, your family members will no longer be able to see your location, get your arrival/departure notifications, or contact you through the app.

Sole-admin families must nominate a successor

If you are the only admin of a family with other members, you must promote another adult to admin before deletion. The app walks you through this automatically.

Premium subscriptions must be cancelled separately

Active subscriptions billed through Google Play or Apple must be cancelled from your device's store settings before deletion. Deleting your Zamily account does not cancel the subscription.

Deleting a child's account

If you are a parent or guardian who created a Child profile for your dependent, you can remove the child account from your family at any time:

  1. Open the Zamily app and go to the Family tab.
  2. Tap the child's name.
  3. Tap Remove from family and confirm.

If the child account was registered with an email address, you can additionally request full deletion of their account data by emailing support@zamily.app with proof of parental relationship. We take our obligations under COPPA and GDPR-K seriously — requests involving children are prioritised.
